We are trying to use a different restaurant everyday to sign up for an internet fix. Today it's Musto's opposite the marina. We are sitting outside, with the dog under the table, listening to the rain splattering the sun awning above our heads. We've already had coffee and if this rain keeps up,we'll have an excuse to stay for one of their great burgers.

Off-line
A massive storm on Sunday evening knocked out our electricity and communications. The lightning was so violent that planes were unable to land at Bodrum airport and were diverted to Izmir. I had considered travelling on Sunday so I'm extremely thankful that I came back earlier. Our power came back but we are still without phone and internet. I'd hoped to write about the Global Run on Sunday but that will have to wait as the photos are on the desk top. One silver lining in the lack of an internet cloud is that I've not been distracted from reading my book club novel. "The Luminaries" by Eleanor Catton is over 800 pages and I'm 75 % through it. I'm still trying to convince myself that it's a worthy Man Brooker prize winner, but it feels a bit of a slog. I hope the last 25% is a killer.
Hello:
ReplyDelete'When troubles come, they come not single spies but in battalions'. We do trust that normal services will be resumed shortly but what a wonderful excuse to eat out each day.
At least you have light to read by for the last of the book club novel!!
All the best, hope all returns to normal shortly - though enjoy the extra time for reading. Started reading "The Writing on my Forehead", thanks to you. And how I wished to be at Musto's now!!:) x
ReplyDeleteI try to get the various short lists to read but of late have been distinctly disappointed.
ReplyDeleteThunder and lightning here as well, and torrential rain but so far the lines have held up and we have had only one power cut - while preparing supper, of course....
Blimey, must be bad! In a funny sort of way, I miss the big drama of Bodrum weather. All we get now is the odd half-hearted shower.
ReplyDeleteB to B, Good luck to you. Sounds like there are lots of worse places to be other than Musto's. Yes, we're catching up on our reading too as we're in lock-down on May Day with not many people other than cops on our street manning the barricades blocking our street. To you and us, geçmiş olsun. (BTW, we could really use some of that rain but you can hold the lightning and wind.)
ReplyDeleteHope everything returns to normal...and glad you are safe. This has been a year of bad weather.....we have had floods and 4 months of below zero temperatures....hope you had that burger and enjoyed it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been awful this week hasn't it? My internet connection has been going on and off continually when the storms are NOT overhead, but when they are I have to disconnect anyway. Good for the gardens though.
ReplyDeleteWe must be having the weather you were hoping for...it's so beautiful here I can't believe it's been still April. That is some rain there...hope all is better now. Axxx
ReplyDeleteCrikey, that is some bad weather you've been having. i hope it clears up soon and your internet is now safely back. I'm afraid I gave up reading short-listed novels years ago. Nowadays I only read what I want to, not what others think I should. What an admission from a former librarian. :-)
