Update

Slightly old news, but Mehmet Kocadon was reinstated as Bodrum's mayor on Wednesday 24th October and was back at his desk  on Tuesday after the long Bayram Holiday.   It took him 35 minutes to get the 100 metres to his office as he had so many well-wishers to greet.  This is great news for all his supporters and hopefully he can now be allowed to continue with his plans for Bodrum.  He was also greeted by 5 goats,  all dolled up ready to be killed in honour of his return, but he is reported to have said that there had been enough blood shed and asked for them to be spared. Good man!

  1. You've got to like a man who saves even a lowly goat!

  3. Oh well done him for saving the goats. Lovely man. Let's hope he can get back to normal now after his ordeal.

    1. He still has his court cases to go to, but they could go on for years.

  4. He can count on the goat vote next time round...but I bet those looking forward to eating them weren't so chuffed.

  6. B to B, Yes, you've been emphasizing those goats lately which has particularly endeared us to your postings. And we must confess, we ARE keen on goats. We even love going somewhere and, as you know, they're known mainly by their smell which always heralds their presence. We're happy for Bodrum and your lovely goats.

    1. I'm afraid I have never been keen on the smell of goats - that's why I don't like any but the mildest goats cheese.

  7. Unfortunately, he is not always so sensitive: having publicly promised to German whale and dolphin activists Prowal and WDCS in spring of 2011 that he would not allow the Dolphin Park in Güvercinlik to reopen (at the time there were no animals there), just one month later he signed a permit for the facility to operate as "İçkili Lokanta ve Dolfin Sirk" - alcohol serving restaurant and dolphin circus, and dolphins, sea lions and a walrus were brought in to suffer.
