I wasn't the only one taking my animal for a walk in Bodrum today. The streets were full of camels.
Some car drivers weren't sure whether to overtake or undertake and a few just decided to ignore the giant beasts in their way which caused some haranguing.
I was happy to watch from the sidewalk and take photos.
....not too close though as there was a lot of foamy saliva being flicked about.
They look splendid ... I remember my first camel ride at London Zoo ... I was so looking forward to sitting between its humps but because I was so small I was put on its neck; not the real deal as far as I was concerned. Luckily I've had many an opportunity to ride one in Turkey, the most memorable being on the mountain road to Mugla, which was filmed to help promote tourism in the area. Turned out it was very difficult to stay on and rather uncomfortable!
ReplyDeleteLet's try and find that film

DeleteNot keen on that foamy stuff from camels either, but you have got to love their outfits.
ReplyDeleteCamel spit seems to be very effective hair gel
DeleteI loved it when they were paraded passed our old house looking very dapper. Impatient drivers in their Nissan tanks weren't so amused, though!
ReplyDeleteThey angered and confused quite a few drivers on Saturday
