From my hideaway in the Highlands, I see that the terrestrial media has belatedly caught up with the turmoil at home, which gives me an overview of the troubles but will someone please tell Jon Snow how to pronounce the prime minister of Turkey's name. I'm hoping the televised apology by the deputy prime minister for excessive use of force will go some way to calm the situation but I'm not holding my breath for a similar statement from his immediate superior. Meanwhile life back in the village is unaffected and Jake and my husband have been entertained by the arrival of our very old friends Kath and Dave who have driven the scenic route from the UK to our garden. Kath has been charting their progress over the past 6 months (it was the very scenic route) through snow and sun to arrive chez-nous, and if you click on this link http://daveandkath.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/milestones.html not only will you see that, despite the troubles, holidaying in Turkey can still be a peaceful prospect, but you will also get a great picture of Jake with his new summer haircut.
I fly back to Bodrum via Istanbul on Sunday and am very much looking forward to joining them.
I like Jake's summer haircut. Wishing you safe journey back home.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I think I need a bit more practice on the dog trimming front. We are lucky he is so patient.
DeleteB to B, Have a pleasant trip home. Jake looks great and I'm sure he misses you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I miss him. I've done a bit of walking in the hills but it's not much fun as a solitary occupation.
DeleteSafe trip home and have a lovely time with your friends. Jake looks gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteYou know where to call when Poppy needs trimming.
DeleteWhat an adventure your friends having - they seem to be having a blast- and Jake looks very cute (as my 6 year old daughter says) and content. Enjoy the Highlands and safe travels back home
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to join in their adventures next week.
DeleteHow's the weather been in the Highlands? Bet you can't wait to get back home.
ReplyDeleteIt was snowing the day I arrived and now it's sunny and 17 degrees - or summer according to the locals
DeleteJake is adorable as usual....safe travels. thanks for the link to your friend's Blog. I quite enjoyed reading it...wouldn't mind a trip like that myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to hearing more about the trip when I get back.
Delete. . dear me - must pay attention - hadn't even noticed that you'd left the room!
ReplyDeleteI think there is plenty to occupy your attention at present. Not surprised you didn't notice.
DeleteJake looks gorgeous. I cut Darwin's hair myself and it's not good.
ReplyDeleteHope you've had a good time in Scotland. Such a shame about the situation in Turkey - it doesn't look like there'll be much of a solution soon.
Axx
first became aware of the situation in Turkey from Ayak (on Facebook) and a young lady on Tumblr. I'm happy you and yours are all OK...enjoy your friends and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteDear Annie, I've been away from posting and also from reading and commenting on the 65 blogs I follow and so I've missed your whole trip to Scotland. I hope it was a good one for you, despite your being away from Turkey/home when turmoil erupted in the streets. Here in the States we got some information about what was happening, but really our television and newspapers spend little time reporting what's happening beyond our borders. We get none of the nuance.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving your comments. I appreciate hearing from you as I value your perspective on life. Peace.
Have a safe journey home - I'm sure Bodrum has missed you :-)
