What a mixed up, contradictory country I live in.
A giant billboard erected by the Forestry commission telling us that blue and green make Bodrum beautiful. Across the bay three hotels in various stages of completion on land that locals were promised would not be built on.
3 VERY ugly hotels at that!
ReplyDeleteAnd destıned to remaın empty thıs year I should thınk
DeleteGuess that just about sums up life here right now, doesn't it. Everything seems so contradictory...
ReplyDeleteEven the ever optimistic are struggling
DeleteB to B, Such is the challenge facing people all over Turkey. My question is, what with the economic crisis and huge problems in tourism, who is going to stay in these hotels?
ReplyDeleteReturning refugees if there is any justice in this world.
DeleteBut I know there isn't!
Delete. . with ALL planning/development now controlled from Ankara there is little chance that local voices will be heard. Much of Burdur is now a huge marble quarry where the country is literally being shipped to China and there is nothing the locals can do to control or influence what is happening. The OGM/Forestry Ministry has been downgraded from its former powerful and influential position. The country is for sale to those who can afford to grease the cogs!
ReplyDeleteIt was the Minister in charge of forestry that flew over this site in a helicopter and vowed ( on YouTube for all to see ) that this forest wouldn't be built on
DeleteSuch a shame. Many of us who were drawn to Turkey in the first place because of the unspoilt rugged beauty.
ReplyDeleteWe'll all have to go and camp out on Alan's new pitch
DeleteReally is a shame.. hope someone stand up firmly for all these before it's too late, such a beauty needs to preserved and no going back x
ReplyDeleteAlmost past the point of no return
